Dehydration and Its Consequences

The Dehydration Mistake

I used to be afraid to moisturize my acne-prone skin.

I have come to realize that proper hydration is the most important anti-inflammatory step, provided you know how to moisturize.

Dehydrated skin can become inflamed (pimples, redness, etc.) and show signs of premature aging.

I have documented an exceptional experience 5 days apart in the hope that it will help you as much as possible.

The context of the experience

My husband and I had just done a mini move with our 2 young children.

It was a pretty demanding exercise.

Within a week, I accumulated several factors of dehydration that caused the majority of my skin problems in the past: lack of sleep, stress, internal dehydration (no mineralized drinks), quick meals and snacks (poor in essential nutrients), fewer walks outside, irregular skincare routines and using a classic soap.

After the third day, fine lines returned, two pimples appeared, my skin became dry, and I felt more discomfort.

 I recognized what had partially laid the foundation for the chronic inflammation of my skin before. My skin was combination and prone to acne for many years.

Return to balance

The day after the end of this move, I found my daily habits again and the comfort of my skin significantly improved.

More precisely, I found:

  • my deep and restorative sleep
  • more serenity (less stress)
  • my mineralized drinks: herbal teas (dried nettle, fresh aromatic herbs), fresh juices made at home
  • my highly nutritious eating habits: homemade broths (oxtail, pork shank, fish), salads, fruits, etc.
  • my simple, effective and gentle skincare routine: cleansing with distilled water or mucilaginous plants (JACOB), an antioxidant serum (STELLA), a moisturizing serum (CHARLOTTE), a finishing oil to massage and nourish without congesting (CLAIRE) and finally, occasional exfoliation (our ANNIE)
  • draining massage for 2 to 3 minutes every morning when I apply CLAIRE

The consequences of chronic dehydration

Continued dehydration of the skin and our incomprehension to address it in the most comprehensive way possible is often one of the main causes of inflammation, premature aging, dull complexions and many other issues that push us to consume more and more products or techniques that sensitize the skin and maintain the same problems.
